Mount Furutaka

Mount Furutaka is a 394-metre peak on Etajima island in Etajima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, within Setonaikai National Park. Once used as a training ground for the former Imperial Naval Academy, its summit commands views over Etajima Bay, the scattered islands of the Seto Inland Sea, and the distant Shikoku Mountains. Genkai azaleas bloom in pale lilac from late March to mid-April. Etajima City publishes an official climbing map for the mountain, which features on the Shima-yama 100 Selection, Hiroshima Hyakuzan, Hiroshima 100 Meizan, and Chūgoku 100 Meizan lists.
