Mount Dōdaira (875.8 m) rises at the meeting point of Tokigawa Town, Ogawa Town, and Higashi-Chichibu Village in Saitama Prefecture along the main spine of the Outer-Chichibu Mountains. One of the Hiki Three Mountains together with Mount Kasa and Mount Ōgiri, its grassy summit bears a first-class triangulation point and commands sweeping 360° views. The Tokyo Astronomical Observatory established the Dōdaira Observatory here in 1962; after closing in 2000 the site reopened in 2005 as the Tokigawa-machi 'Star and Green Creation Center,' with lodges and regular stargazing sessions. The peak is also a featured summit on the Outer-Chichibu Seven Peaks traverse.
