Mount Chitokaniushi is a 1,445.6-meter peak at the southern end of Hokkaido's Kitami Mountains, straddling the towns of Kamikawa and Engaru. It rises directly across Kitami Pass from the Ishikari Mountains and bears a first-class triangulation point at its summit. The name comes from the Ainu phrase "ci-tukan-us-i," meaning "the place where we shoot arrows," recalling a ritual hunt site. The mountain is counted among the 100 famous mountains of Hokkaido.
