小ヅッコ避難小屋

Hut at Kozukko, about 1,090m on the northern flank of Ogino-sen in Hyonosen-Ushiroyama-Nagisan Quasi-National Park, in Umigami, Shinonsen Town, Mikata District, Hyogo Prefecture. It lies roughly 2.7km north in a straight line from the summit of Ogino-sen (1,310m) and about 1.5km southwest of Ueyama Kogen with its silver-grass meadows. Shinonsen Town describes the trail from Kozukko to Ogino-sen as "three kilometres of beech forest running on and on", where heavy snow has polished the beech trunks to a pale grey that contrasts beautifully with the yellow-brown carpet of fallen leaves in November. Ogino-sen takes its name from a summit shaped like an open fan; its middle slopes hold highlands, deep ravines and waterfalls amid natural beech forest, and there is a shelter on the top with a 360-degree view reaching Daisen, Lake Koyama, the city of Tottori and the Sea of Japan. Asian black bears, Japanese dormice, golden eagles and mountain hawk-eagles live in the area, along with Streptopus streptopoides, which within Tottori Prefecture grows only on Ogino-sen.
