Shelter at about 1,890m just below the summit of Echigo-Komagatake (2,003m), one of the Hyakumeizan, at the junction of the Myojin and Gunkai ridges. Run by Uonuma City, it is usable year round, and through the season from mid-May to mid-October a warden is in residence — chiefly at weekends — so overnight stays are possible. Being a shelter it takes no bookings, and a stay costs a 2,000 JPY contribution per person. A small number of blankets and foil mats are kept there; the toilet is inside, and there are two water points, one beside the hut and one about three minutes below. No meals are served and no stove is provided, so cooking gear must be carried in. There is room for about ten tents. From the Shiori-toge trailhead on Route 352 the summit is about 5 hours 30 minutes away; the pass has parking for 50 cars and gets crowded on autumn weekends with visitors coming for the "waterfall cloud". For the Koma-no-Yu trailhead, take a bus 25 minutes from Koide Station to Oyu Onsen and walk an hour.
