This out-and-back route climbs Mount Taikasan on the Ōshima Peninsula in Shūnan. The 362-meter isolated peak lies in a Class 2 Special Zone of Setonaikai National Park and has an observation deck and a monument to poet Yosano Tekkan. Its summit looks across the islands of the Seto Inland Sea and the Kunisaki Peninsula, with the Sadamisaki Peninsula visible on clear days; after dark, the Shūnan industrial complex and city lights create a notable night view.
