From Higashi-Toyoi in Kudamatsu, this return follows the Toyoi Course past Yasaka Shrine and Myohodanji to the 349 m Mount Chausu on the border with Hikari. The mountain features in the legend of Kudamatsu as the town where a star fell, when the shrine to the descended pole star is said to have stood here for a time, and its narrow summit overlooks the Seto Inland Sea and the Shunan industrial coast.
