From near Hayama Shiminso in Sagae, this return climbs the Hatake Course over Kozomori, Ozomori and the Otsubo Stone to the 1,462 m Hayama, the highest point of Sagae, and continues to the inner shrine of Hakuban Shrine. A mountain of asceticism counted with Gassan and Haguro among the Three Mountains of Dewa until the early Edo period, it rises through beech forest to views of Yamagata's great peaks such as Gassan, the Asahi range, Chokai and Zao.
