From the car park of the Kunimidake-Myokendake trailhead on Route 389 in Unzen, this return climbs northwest to the 1,062 m Mount Kusenbu with its Kusenbu Daimyojin shrine. A quiet peak in the northern Unzen range, its slopes are dotted with white Yamaboshi dogwood in early summer, and the summit looks to the higher peaks of Fugendake, Kunimidake and Myokendake.
