From the Mount Komonji trailhead in Kokurakita, Kitakyushu, this short return climbs a path that starts with steep, relentless steps to the 366 m summit. A peak of the Kitakyushu Quasi-National Park known for the Komonji fire, when the character for small is lit on its slope each 13 August, its open summit overlooks Kokura, Kitakyushu Port and the Kanmon Bridge and is a noted night-view spot.
