This loop starts at the Onamiike trailhead, circles Onamiike Crater Lake, and climbs Mount Karakuni, the highest summit in the Kirishima range. Onamiike spreads below Mount Karakuni and can be walked around on its crater rim. From the summit, Mount Shinmoe and Mount Takachiho-no-Mine are visible; Miyama-kirishima azaleas are a highlight in early summer and autumn color surrounds the lake.
