From the Kano trailhead in Imajuku, western Fukuoka, this return hike follows the approach to Kanodake Shrine, passes its distant worship place and a viewpoint, and reaches the shrine on Mount Kano's 341-metre summit. The mountain is cherished through a play on its name meaning that wishes come true, while the summit shrine is said to have been founded about 600 years ago with a divided spirit of Shogun Jizo from Kyoto's Atago Gongen. Despite the modest elevation, the direct approach has sustained steep slopes and steps, with views over Imajuku from the lookout along the way.
