Mt. Tanjō

Mt. Tanjō is a 502 m satoyama in the Kamihora-Maeno area of Mino City, Gifu Prefecture, traditionally said to be the birthplace of the deity Mitarashi-hime-no-Mikoto, daughter of Ame-no-wakahiko and Shitateru-hime. The summit holds a third-class triangulation point and a wooden observation deck offering clear-weather views of the Central and Southern Alps and the towns of Mino and Seki. Local volunteers of the "Tanjō-yama o Aisuru Kai" maintain the trail, and entry is prohibited from the autumnal equinox through November 8 to protect the matsutake harvest. The peak is included on the Continued Gifu 100 Mountains list.
