Mt. Shinzan is a 567 m peak in Kitaura, Oga City, Akita Prefecture, forming the Oga Three Mountains (Oga-sanzan) together with Honzan and Kenashiyama within Oga Quasi-National Park. Shinzan-jinja Shrine, a faith site since the Heian period, stands on its mid-slope and hosts the annual February Namahage Sedo Festival traditionally regarded as the origin of the Namahage rite. The mountain lies on the "Oyamakake" mountain ascetic pilgrimage route across the three peaks. The peak is included in the Akita Prefecture mountains guidebook and Zoku Shizukanaru Yama.
