Mt. Sentō

Mt. Sentō (606 m) is a shapely triangular peak rising in eastern Kunisaki City, Ōita, on the Kunisaki Peninsula, within the Kunisaki-hantō Prefectural Natural Park. Its name comes from the former Sentō-ji, one of the principal temples of the Rokugō-Manzan Buddhist tradition, whose ruins—along with carved Niō statues and the Itsutsuji Fudō shrine—remain on the mid-mountain slope. The area has been developed as the Rokugō-Manzan Friendship Forest Park and was named one of the "100 Views of Ōita." From the summit, hikers look out over Hime Island and the Suō Sea to peaks such as Mt. Futago and Mt. Monju, with views reaching Yamaguchi Prefecture on clear days.
