Mt. Onigatake

Mt. Onigatake is a 533 m peak rising west of central Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture, with panoramic views over the Echizen Plain and the Sea of Japan. Originally called Mt. Nyū-ga-take, it was renamed after a legend in which young villagers vanquished a "white demon woman" said to attack travelers from its slopes. The annual "Onigatake Fire Festival" on 15 August carries lit torches in procession from Ōmushi Shrine to the summit. An observation deck crowns the peak, which is included on the Hokuriku 100, the Fukui Prefecture Mountain Guide, and the Echizen City 23 Mountains lists.
