Mt. Ogasa is a 264.8 m peak straddling Kakegawa, Fukuroi and Kikugawa Cities in western Shizuoka Prefecture, the principal summit of the Ogasayama Hills. Its gentle southern flank contrasts sharply with the steep northern erosion scarp; the latter has produced features such as 'Rokumai-byōbu', a natural cleft roughly 10 m high. Near the summit Ogasa Shrine enshrines a great cryptomeria estimated to be more than four hundred years old — a Kakegawa City Natural Monument — and the annual Yahagi Festival is held there each November. Tokugawa Ieyasu encamped on the mountain during the 1581 siege of Takatenjin Castle, and the summit commands views of Kakegawa, Mount Fuji and the southern Japanese Alps. The peak is listed in the Shizuoka 100 Mountains.
