Mt. Kannon is a 605.9 m peak in the Ureshino-Morimoto-chō area of Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture, on the ridge that extends from the northern end of the Takami Range out toward the Ise Plain. Together with neighboring Mt. Horisaka and Mt. Shirai it is counted among the "Matsusaka Three Peaks," and was historically venerated as a landmark for sailors. The summit looks out over the Ise Plain, Ise Bay, and the distant Chita Peninsula. A loop course from the Matsusaka Forest Park climbs via the observation-deck and Wild-Bird-Forest routes. The peak is included on the Mie Prefecture Mountain Guide, the Osaka-area 250, and the Tokai Weekend Climbing Best 120.
