Mt. Kabutomyoujindake

Kabutomyōjindake is a 1,005 m peak in the Kuzakai district of Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture — the centrepiece of the Kuzakai Highland that straddles National Route 106 east of Morioka. A helmet-shaped block of rock crowns the summit and gives the mountain its name, which is also linked to a legend of the warrior Abe no Sadatō's helmet. The standard route from the Kuzakai Walking Center climbs the larch- and birch-lined north ridge in about an hour, with views from the top stretching to Iwate-san, Hayachine-san and the Ōu Mountains. It appears on numerous Tōhoku lists including the "Tōhoku Hyakumeizan", "Iwate Hyakumeizan" and "Shin Iwate no Nijūmeizan".
