Mt. Chausuyama

Mt. Chausuyama is the site of a medieval mountain castle on the summit of Mount Hōjusan (about 166 m) at Sakoshi in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Tradition holds it was built by the Yamana clan in the Muromachi period, after the Kakitsu Rebellion, as a defense against the Akamatsu clan, and it later served as a stronghold controlling Sakoshi harbor. Overlooking Sakoshi Bay, it is counted among the West Harima Eleven Mountain Castles (Nishi-Harima Yamajiro 11) selected by Hyogo Prefecture's West Harima Regional Bureau.
