Mt. Bizan

The symbol mountain of Tokushima City, rising just west of the downtown — its gentle eyebrow-like profile gave it the name 'Bizan' (Brow Mountain), and it appears in poems of the Manyoshu. From the 290 m summit (276 m trig point) you can see across the city to the Asan Range, the Seto Inland Sea and the mountains of Kishu. The summit is reached in about six minutes by the Awagin Bizan Ropeway from a base station above the Awa-Odori Hall, and the broader Bizan Park is also crossed by foot trails.
