Mt. Binshi is a 598.9 m peak on the boundary between Kihoku Town and Owase City in Mie Prefecture, on the southeastern edge of the Kii Mountains. A massive rock formation called "Zō no Se" (Elephant's Back), about five minutes beyond the summit, has become a celebrated photo spot for sweeping views over the Kumano-nada Sea and the surrounding ranges. Trails climb the mountain from Magose Pass on the World Heritage Kumano Kodō Iseji and from the Tanemaki Gonbei-no-Sato parking area, and along with neighboring Mt. Tengukura it is counted among the "Owase Three Famous Mountains." The peak is included in the Mie Prefecture Mountain Guide and the Owase Trail.
