Mount Yakiyama is a 647 m peak in Owase City, Mie Prefecture, crossed by the Yakiyama-goe — the most difficult section of the Kumano Kodo Iseji pilgrimage route, part of the UNESCO-listed Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range. About ten kilometres of stone-paved trail climb steeply over the pass, historically known as the "first great obstacle of the Western circuit," while the Sakura-no-Mori plaza near the summit opens onto a sweeping view of the Kumano Sea. The mountain appears in Tōkai Hyakuzan, the Mie Prefecture Mountain Guide, and the 2017 Hundred Low Mountains of Japan.
