Mount Uwasa

A 255.7-meter peak at the meeting of Nishi-ueta, Ikeda and Mitani neighborhoods in southern Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. It is the highest of the so-called Takamatsu Crater Five Peaks, andesite domes left by Seto Inland Sea volcanism around fourteen million years ago. Around 1400 the summit held the hilltop fortress of Owasayama Castle, whose stone retaining walls can still be traced near the upper trail. The crown of the mountain offers a 360-degree panorama out to Yashima, Megijima and Goken-zan, and the peak is included in the Kagawa Prefecture Mountain Guide (Bunken Tozan Guide).
