Mount Shirataki

Mount Shirataki (350 m) stands above the Seto Inland Sea in the Koizumi district of Mihara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Together with neighbouring Mount Kurotaki in Takehara City, it lies within a special-protection zone of Setonaikai National Park. A massive granite outcrop known as Hachijō Rock crowns the summit, offering a 360-degree panorama from the Geiyo Islands and the Shikoku Mountains in the south to the Kibi Plateau and Chūgoku Mountains in the north. Early-Edo-period magaibutsu (cliff-carved Buddhas) commissioned by the priests of Ryūsenji Temple for harvest prayers are preserved on its walls. The peak appears in the Hiroshima Hyakuzan and the 100 Mountains of the Chūgoku Region.
