Mount Myōjōgatake

Mount Myōjōgatake is a 549-metre twin-summit peak in the Shiraki district of Kameyama City, Mie Prefecture, rising as an outlying spur of the southern Suzuka Range overlooking the Ise Plain. The Shingon temple Kokubun-ji, founded according to legend by Kūkai after a bright star alighted on a great cypress here (giving the mountain its name), stands on the slope. The standard loop climbs from Kokubun-ji via Kokubunji-yama to the east and west summits, and the peak appears on the Suzuka 50 Meizan list.
