Mount Myōgi

Mount Myōgi is a 313.6-metre peak in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, forming a twin summit with the adjoining Daishō-yama (282 m) to its south. The name Daishō derives from the Great and Small Tengu enshrined at Afuri-jinja at the foot of the hill, and a giant signboard reading 'Daishō' (大小), first installed in 1855, hangs from Daishō-yama's cliff. The Geospatial Information Authority's topographic map labels the northern peak Daishō-yama, but Ashikaga City and the on-site summit markers name the north peak Myōgi-yama (313.6 m) and the south peak Daishō-yama (282 m).
