Mount Miyaji

A 362-meter low mountain in Akasaka-chō Miyaji, Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture, lying within Mikawa Bay Quasi-National Park. Its tidy conical silhouette earns it the local nickname Mikawa-Fuji. The summit commands views of Mikawa Bay, the East Mikawa Plain and the Atsumi Peninsula, with Mt. Fuji visible on clear days. The slopes are a noted habitat of the endangered Koabura-tsutsuji azalea, and a 1916 imperial-tour memorial stone (Seiseki-hi) stands near the top, where autumn colour and May azaleas draw walkers. The Otowa Chamber of Commerce distributes a trail map and maintains family-grade and intermediate routes from the Uchiyama, First and Second parking lots, as well as the Otowa Welfare Health Center trailhead. Featured in numerous regional rosters including the Aichi 130 Mountains, the Tōkai 100 Mountains and the Furusato-Fuji 100.
