Mount Mikami is a 432 m peak in Yasu City, Shiga, whose neat conical silhouette has earned it the nickname Ōmi Fuji and a long-standing place in classical Man'yō poetry. A folk legend tells how Tawara no Tōta (Fujiwara no Hidesato) slew a giant centipede that had coiled around the mountain seven and a half times, lending it the alternative name Mukade-yama. The peak is revered as the sacred body of Mikami Shrine at its foot, and three trails — the front and back routes from the shrine and a path from Ōmi-Fuji Park — each reach the summit in about 40 minutes. The top opens onto views of Lake Biwa, the Hira Mountains, and on clear days as far as Mount Ikoma in Nara, and the surrounding woods are designated by the Kinki-Chūgoku Forest Service as the Ōmi-Fuji Scenic Forest. The mountain features in Hana no Hyakumeizan, Kansai Hyakumeizan, and Ōmi Hyakuzan.
