Mount Kōno

Mount Kōno is a 296.4-metre peak in central Kishiwada City, Osaka Prefecture, the source of the Haruki River. Long revered as 'the mountain where the gods dwell', its 200-hectare slopes became the first satoyama in Japan to host a council established under the Natural Restoration Promotion Law in 2004, and Kishiwada City together with the Kōnoyama Conservation Council carry out bamboo-grove clearance and other restoration work. The Igami Shrine Amefuri Falls and the cherry and maple of Jinjō-ji are highlights, and the summit can be reached in about an hour from the Aisai-Land michi-no-eki. The peak is included on the Osaka 50 Mountains.
