Mount Houdaiyama

Mount Houdaiyama stands on the ridge between Miura Fuji and Mount Takeyama. Originally called Otsukayama, it acquired its present name after the navy built a gun battery in the early Showa period. A bowl-shaped battery emplacement survives beside the Japan Coast Guard’s Takeyama receiving station on the summit. As of 30 September 2026, hikers are asked to avoid the surrounding routes until post-typhoon safety checks are complete.
