Mount Hiko

Mount Hiko is a 639 m dome-shaped peak on the border of Tsukumi City and Saiki City in Oita Prefecture. Its summit holds a second-order triangulation point and a small shrine to the Hikodake Gongen deity, and commands a 360-degree view over Saiki Bay's ria coast, the Tsurumi Peninsula and the Bungo Channel, with particularly celebrated sunrise vistas. Trails approach from Hikonōchi on the Tsukumi side and Kariu on the Saiki side. The mountain is counted among the Ōita Hyakuzan, New Ōita Hyakuzan and Nihon no Yama 1000.
