Mt. Hachijofuji is an 854.3-meter stratovolcano on the northwestern half of Hachijojima Island in Hachijo Town, Tokyo — the highest peak of the Izu Islands and locally also called Nishiyama. Its classic conical form rises to a roughly 500-meter-wide summit crater, traversed by a popular "crater-rim" (Ohachimeguri) trail that offers a full 360-degree panorama. The summit area is a Special Protection Zone within Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, and the volcano remains active, so climbers are asked to file a climbing registration before ascending.
