Mount Goishi

A 435-meter rocky peak on the eastern side of Shodoshima Island in Nawa, Shodoshima Town, Shozu District, Kagawa Prefecture. The mountain's name—literally "Go stones mountain"—comes from black granite scattered across white tuff cliffs, evoking the look of Go stones on a board. The slopes host Goishizan, the second temple of the Shodoshima 88-Temple Pilgrimage; its hall stands inside a rock cave and enshrines Namikiri Fudo Myo-o, long venerated as protector of seafarers. The summit area looks down on the soy-sauce village of Hishio-no-Sato and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, and is a celebrated sunset spot. The peak is included in the Kagawa Prefecture Mountain Guide (Bunken Tozan Guide).
