Mount Dairokuten (440.3 m) is the highest peak on the Oshika Peninsula, lying at the southern end of the Kitakami Mountains on the border between Onagawa Town and the former Ogihama district of Ishinomaki City in Miyagi Prefecture. The name derives from the Sixth Heaven of Buddhist cosmology: local fishermen built the summit Mikuni Shrine to pray for paradise-like fortune, lending the peak its alternative name 'Mikuni-yama.' A boulder along the trail known as Hotoke-ishi is recorded as a falconry ground used by the Sengoku-era lord Date Masamune. The Ministry of the Environment's Michinoku Coastal Trail traces the ridge as the 'Dairokuten-yama Course,' offering views of Onagawa Bay, Mangoku-ura lagoon, and — on clear days — the Zaō Range, all within a day-trip from Onagawa Station.
