Mt. Mokoto Ginreiso Hut

Hut at about 805m at the Higashimokoto-course trailhead of Mt. Mokoto (1000m) in Akan-Mashu National Park, Ozora Town, Hokkaido. It stands next to Ginreisui, a spring known for the quality of its water, and a biotoilet is installed behind it. The hut can be used while preparing for a climb but is closed in winter. Turning off Prefectural Road 102 at the Mokotoyama trailhead sign, a forest road leads by car all the way to Ginreisui, but it is narrow with sharp bends and steep grades, a high-clearance 4WD is recommended, and it may be closed depending on season and road conditions. From here the summit is 1.0km away with 195m of ascent, about 30 minutes up — the shortest route on the mountain — and looks out over the whole Kussharo caldera.
