Ippaimizu Shelter

Emergency shelter at about 1,440m, roughly 600m south of the summit of Mt. Tenmoku (Mitsudokke) on the Nagasawa-hairyo ridge in Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, in Nippara, Okutama Town, western Tokyo. Its name comes from the nearby Ippaimizu spring. According to the Okutama Visitor Center, the shelters in Okutama are for emergency refuge and visitors are asked not to use them otherwise. The toilet is usable, but all toilets attached to these shelters are of the vault type and no paper is provided. Nearby stream water can run dry depending on conditions, so hikers should carry plenty. The nearest descent is about 4.6km to the settlement of Nippara. Mobile reception varies by carrier but is generally poor.
