From the foot of the Tottori Castle ruins by the Jinpukaku mansion, this return passes the Ninomaru, the Tenkyumaru and the Hachiman shrine site on the trail up Mount Kyusho to the Sanjonomaru, the citadel on the 263 m summit. A national historic site used from the Sengoku period to the Meiji era and scene of Hashiba Hideyoshi's starvation siege, the summit looks out to the Tottori Sand Dunes, Lake Koyama and the Sea of Japan.
