From Ishigure Pass on the Mie-Shiga border, this return climbs the Omote-michi, the shortest route up Mount Ryu, past the granite boulders of Kasane Rock to the broad bamboo-grass summit (1,099 m), then continues north to Shizugadake and back. One of the Suzuka Seven Mountains, named for a legend of rain prayers to a dragon god, its grassland is dotted in mid-May with white Yashio azaleas that look like grazing sheep.
