From the Shimizukura trailhead in Omi, Itoigawa, this return follows an easy path to Ipponsugi Pass, climbs limestone scree to Kanakidaira and a roped steep section to the 1,222 m Mount Kurohime. An isolated peak made entirely of limestone and revered in connection with the legend of Princess Nunakawa, it shows sinkholes along the way, and the summit looks over the Sea of Japan and the surrounding ranges.
