This return route begins at Kaimon Foothill Fureai Park and follows a spiralling trail to the 924 m summit of Mount Kaimon. Known as the Satsuma Fuji for its graceful cone, it is one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains and is largely forested. Rock, steps, and ladders appear near the summit, where views extend to Lake Ikeda, Sakurajima, the Kirishima range, and Yakushima.
