From near Masubuchi Dam in Kokuraminami, Kitakyushu, this route climbs well-kept paths through cedar and along a stream past the Hotte Valley junction to Suzugaiwaya, reaches the 901 m Mount Fukuchi, the high point of the Fukuchi range, and returns past the Arajuku-so shelter. One of northern Kyushu's most popular mountains, its open summit gives a full circle of views over the Onga River basin and the surrounding ranges.
