From the Asahihara trailhead in Yuzawa, this horseshoe loop crosses the stream and climbs a steep ridge with ladders and chains to Daigenta (1,598 m), called the Matterhorn of Joetsu, traverses the crest to Nanatsugoya (1,675 m), and returns to Asahihara via Shishigoya-no-kashira. A demanding route with plenty of ups and downs, its ridge gives wide views to Tanigawadake and Makihatayama.
