Swiss Village Ski Area (Taikoyama Snow Dondon Park) Closed
Official name 太鼓山スノーどんどんパーク in スイス村 · Formerly 森林公園スイス村スキー場
Kyoto
Open 1984–2019
Swiss Village Ski Area opened in 1984 on Mt. Taiko in Yasaka, Kyotango, Kyoto, as part of the Kyotango Forest Park Swiss Village. A family hill with mostly beginner slopes, it drew about 42,000 visitors in its peak year of 1991 and was latterly the only ski area in northern Kyoto Prefecture. Falling visitor numbers, poor snow and ageing equipment led to its suspension in October 2019, which was reported as an effective closure. Since 2022 the old slope has hosted the Taikoyama Snow Dondon Park, a snow-play area.
