Mt. Yahazudake

Mt. Yahazudake is a 687 m peak on the border between Minamata City in Kumamoto Prefecture and Izumi City in Kagoshima Prefecture. Its name derives from its summit, which is split into two rocky points resembling an arrow nock (yahazu); the distinctive silhouette as seen from the Yatsushiro Sea has long served as a landmark for coastal navigation. It is counted among the Kyushu Hyakumeizan and Kumamoto Hyakumeizan, and Yagoshi Shrine — managed by Kashikuri Shrine at the foot of the mountain — stands at the summit.
