Mt. Tomiban

遠見番山

Goto, Nagasaki · Elevation 193 m

A 193-meter peak in the north of Narushima Island, Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture. In the early Edo period, a watch station and signal-fire platform (noroshidai) were established at the summit to monitor foreign vessels, and the stone remains of the beacon survive today. The summit gives a 360-degree view of the surrounding Goto archipelago and the East China Sea; the traverse to neighbouring Mt. Suisho is listed in Shimayama Hyakusen.
