Mt. Onidake

Mt. Onidake is a 315 m volcano in eastern Fukue Island, Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, and an island landmark. A cinder cone with a broad crater rises above a shield-volcano plateau; its last eruption was about 18,000 years ago. Its graceful grassy slopes and walking trails make it a popular recreation area. The Onidake kite battle is held each May 3. Its Pele’s-tears locality is a prefectural Natural Monument. A major site of the Goto Islands Geopark within Saikai National Park, it is classified as active.
