Mt. Ishizareyama (West Peak)

Ishizareyama West Peak (572 m) is a summit in Midori Ward, Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, rising just west of Ishizareyama (578 m), famed as a habitat of the Gifu butterfly (Luehdorfia japonica). The Ishizareyama area is the only place in southern Kanto where this prefecturally protected butterfly survives, and in early April the "spring goddess" flutters around the summit. Part of Ishizareyama, one of the "Fujino 15 Famous Mountains," it appears in the "350 Mountains around Tokyo."
