Mt. Imakira

A 292-meter peak on Takarajima, the southernmost inhabited island of the Tokara archipelago in Toshima Village, Kagoshima Prefecture, and the island's highest summit. Takarajima is built entirely of uplifted coral reef and is famous for a local legend that the English pirate Captain Kidd hid his treasure in a limestone cave here. The summit observatory, shaped like a Tokara pony, offers a 360-degree panorama from Kotakarajima, Akusekijima and Suwanose to the north as far as Amami Oshima in the south. Listed in Shimayama Hyakusen.
