Mt. Higakure

Mt. Higakure (602 m) rises in western Ōkuma Town, Futaba District, Fukushima Prefecture, in the Abukuma Highland, and is included in the Utsukushima 100 Famous Mountains list. The main summit holds a first-order triangulation point and was once reached by a trail from Sakashita Dam, but the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake caused collapses along the trail and the route is currently closed to entry. The town plans to assess the damage and restore the trail once the rural-forest regeneration project concludes.
